I’m at an intersection off of Hardy Road & Little York in Houston, Texas. I see this young guy but it’s not my first time watching him run across the intersection.

I’ve given him money before because he’s hustling. His name is Alejandro.

Much of our conversation didn’t make it past the edit, but that’s OK. For example, I cut out the part where I complimented him on his shirt, “I [heart] Booze.” He informs me that he doesn’t drink; it’s just a shirt to wear.

He also told me that he’s making at least $100 in a 5 hour period of work, just by simply running back and forth as the traffic light stops traffic in three ways, but he focuses on only two of the three. He grabs the traffic coming up the bridge from the frontage road and he grabs the traffic heading east-bound over the tollway on the bridge.

I thoroughly enjoyed Alejandro’s inspiration and hustle. I gave him some money because he tool the time to interview with me. I think it was something around $13 bucks or so.

He wasn’t looking for a handout and he’s got a sincere handshake. Here’s to my new buddy Alejandro!
